Hello all zero of you,

Since I will not be going to Coachella with Yanira as originally planned, I am updating my tentative schedule. I no longer have to suffer through the Conor Oberst/Jenny Lewis bullshit and can focus on the actual talent at the festival. Here it is:

Beirut
Franz Ferdinand
Leonard Cohen
Morrissey
N.A.S.A.
Paul McCartney

The Black Keys

Saturday, April 18th:

Fleet Foxes
Henry Rollins

Hercules and Love Affair
The Killers
TV on the Radio

Sunday, April 19th:
Antony and the Johnsons
Paul Weller
The Cure
Throbbing Gristle
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

And the must-see list:

Friday, April 17th:
Beirut

Morrissey (he’s sort of in between, I would ditch him for any other must-see)
Paul McCartney

Saturday, April 18th:

The Killers

Throbbing Gristle
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Tentative Coachella Schedule

So, Yanira and I are going to Coachella this April and it’s going to be a blast! We’re going to camp out with our little tent and see so many great musicians. Anyone who hasn’t seen the schedule for this year’s festival should make their way over to coachella.com and check it out.

Coachella.com has this nifty thing called the Coachooser which allows you to pick which bands out of the line-up you want to see and organize it into a list. Below is our Master List. Acts I want to see are in blue, ones Yanira wants to see are in red, and ones we both are looking forward to seeing are mixed.

Here’s a link: http://www.coachella.com/interact/coachooser/share/c45f7cb15b2e397bed0c73cb4d921db5

Friday, April 17th:
Beirut
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
Franz Ferdinand
Leonard Cohen
Morrissey
N.A.S.A.
Noah and the Whale

Paul McCartney
The Black Keys

Saturday, April 18th:
Amy Winehouse
Booker T.
Calexico
Fleet Foxes
Henry Rollins

Hercules and Love Affair
Jenny Lewis
The Killers
TV on the Radio

Sunday, April 19th:
Antony and the Johnsons
Okkervil River
Paolo Nutini

Paul Weller
The Cure
Throbbing Gristle
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Hopefully there’s no conflict in the schedule! But in case there is, Yanira and I have made a “must-see” list. Here it is:

Friday, April 17th:
Beirut
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
Leonard Cohen
Morrissey (he’s sort of in between, I would ditch him for any other must-see)
Paul McCartney

Saturday, April 18th:

Amy Winehouse
The Killers

Sunday, April 19th:

Antony and the Johnsons
The Cure
Throbbing Gristle
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Week 25: February 1st

1. Foreigner by Cat Stevens
The “Foreigner Suite” is mind-blowing. The rest of the album can bite me. I can listen to that 18-minute long suite over and over. I especially love the last 4 minutes, the “I’ll Go Where True Love Goes” movement. On his 2006 album, Yusuf reprised this portion and turned it into it’s own song. When I first put the record on and heard the piano tinkling out that song I was so elated.

2. The Best of the Velvet Underground
Big songs for this week: “Rock ‘n Roll” (my new phone ringtone), “I’m Waiting for the Man,” “Heroin,” and “White Light/White Heat.”

3. Driving Rain by Paul McCartney
The Coachella lineup for this year was announced a couple of days ago and Macca will be headlining the first day along with people like Morrissey (yay) and Leonard Cohen (can I get a “holy shit”?). I’m planning on going to Coachella with Yanira, so I’ve been catching up on Paul’s recent work. Pretty good album, I like the hard sound to it.

4. Memory Almost Full by Paul McCartney
This album gets a bad rap, but I like it a lot. “Dance Tonight” was the first song I learned how to play on the mandolin. “House of Wax” is a weird song though. I think that’s why the bookstore I work at has about 7 copies of it for sale.

5. Electric Arguments by Paul McCartney
Paul’s latest. I downloaded it, burned it, and took it with me to the store on Saturday. I need to listen to it more but it sounds interesting. Very avant garde, I like it. If you look at the CD you can see everything misspelled. I did this after accidentally writing a “B” instead of a “P.” In for a penny, in for a pound.
